Taste of Gallic charm - a garden lover's dream
We hope you enjoy this feature from The Royal Horticultural Society Magazine on the inspiration behind Lamb’s fantasy Renaissance style garden. Kristin and Nick, true romantics at heart, wanted to create this formal Renaissance style, which was very typical of the 17th century and which would complements this wonderful group of buildings beautifully. After discussing different ideas based on this theme, Nick came up with the final design for two symmetrical parterres in a complex quatrefoil pattern. The shape was inspired by beautiful old chimneys he had salvaged many years before, which Nick cut and used to frame the windows of the summerhouse overlooking the parterre, in which the same quatrefoil pattern is repeated. Please do read the full piece on how the garden was designed and why the plants and flowers were chosen.
